Angels for Warriors is a 501 (c)(3) not for profit located at 164 Main Street, Huntington, N.Y. 11743. We provide information and guidance about the essential resources available to America's returning Warriors with an emphasis on pro-bono and low-bono legal representation. America's Warriors have fought for our freedoms. Angels for Warriors advocates for their futures.
Joseph, a WWII veteran, on a fixed income found AFW after unsuccessful calls to the veterans crisis line. He was threatened to be evicted because he could not afford the $50 a month increase in his rent. AFW stepped in and negotiated a lower rate with his landlord which worked for both of them. Thomas will now be spending the holidays in his warm, cozy home.
David, a young veteran, on the brink of being homeless was in a shelter living with his service dog. He had severe PTSD and could not work. He was 100% disabled and had no income. Another veteran service agency referred him to AFW. We were able to get him a pro bono attorney to cover his eviction proceedings, settle his finances, and purchased groceries for both David and his service dog. The AFW Legal Initiative helped him with court fees. They are now living comfortably in permanent housing.
Elizabeth, a female veteran, whose privacy rights were being violated by her landlord was referred to AFW. We were able to have a legal team get her perpetrator arrested and prosecuted. We then were able to move her out into a new apartment where our team continues to work with her to ensure she is safe and stable.
